Good news for retro gaming fans! Dolphin, the excellent GameCube and Wii emulator, is now available as a standalone application for Xbox Series X and S. Perfect for the nostalgic!
The retro game is very popular among gamers, even if it is not accessible to everyone. In fact, installing emulators is not within everyone’s reach – not to mention the ROMs or ISOs of games that need to be recovered, most of the time in a not exactly legal way… You need to own the original game to enjoy it on an emulator and comply with the legislation in force. Otherwise, it’s simply copyright infringement. You have been warned! In any case, here’s good news for Xbox console gamers who would succumb to the call of nostalgia: Dolphin Emulator, the excellent emulator for Nintendo GameCube and Wii games, is now available on Xbox Series X and S! In fact, it has been ported to a standalone Universal Windows Platform (UWP) Xbox application – this is a beta release. Retro gaming enthusiasts will therefore be able to enjoy the most famous games of the two Nintendo consoles, such as for example Mario Kart: Double dashby downloading Dolphin UWP for Xbox here.
Dolphin Emulator – Play Wii and GameCube games on Xbox Series X and S
Dolphin Emulator is considered to be the most successful GameCube and Wii emulator, with infrequent and generally not annoying bugs. Works on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android. TO note that on smartphones the game compatibility list is much more limited anyway. It allows you to enjoy cult games, such as Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Luigi’s Mansion or Super Mario Galaxy. The complete list of supported Wii and GameCube games can be found on the official software website – it changes often, as the emulator is updated regularly. It can be used with keyboard and mouse, but also with a joystick, it also supports most of them and reproduces the interface of GameCube or Wii joysticks. It’s even possible to play multiplayer online!
But not everyone necessarily wants to play on PC. Fortunately, Xbox Series X and S owners can now enjoy Dolphin Emulator – technically Xbox One and Xbox One X can run it too, but it’s not very stable. By the way, these consoles have already proven themselves as good emulator machines, supporting a wide range of consoles through the RetroArch emulator interface. The youtuber Modern Vintage Gamer showed the performance obtained on the Microsoft console in video, and the result is particularly fluid. Dolphin is capable of upscaling games up to 1440p. Gamers can also add HD texture packs and mods to make the games more modern and pleasing to the eye. On the other hand, the process is not very simple since it is necessary to activate the developer mode of the XBox. Some options, such as controller configuration, require you to adjust a configuration file on your PC and then move it to the console.
