Game News Far Cry 7 is in development, another multiplayer game (in Alaska) on the way?
Split out :
The Far Cry saga obviously still has an ace up its sleeve. After all, he knows rather commercial figures and it has been rumored for some time that Ubisoft was working on several new games: the latter are resurfacing through a new rumor supported by anonymous sources.
On the road again
It’s not the first time there have been rumors that Far Cry 7 is in development. We already told you about it some time ago, in October 2021, and it seemed that the game was part of a pronounced multiplayer: today we get a new rumor from Insider Gaming, a site now known for its many unpublished scoops. As the media indicate, bases its statements on two sources who wished to remain anonymous, not being authorized to speak of subsequent projects.
Two Far Cry games would then be in development. The former would be Far Cry 7 while the latter would be a multiplayer Far Cry. Apparently, they were once the same game: its codename was Project Talisker and it was apparently piloted by Dan Hay, a figure from Ubisoft and the Far Cry series who recently joined Blizzard Entertainment. Definitely, this Talisker project would be “split” into two separate projects early in development. Both would be linked to Ubisoft Montreal.
Far Cry 7 would thus be called, internally, with the code name Project Blackbirdbut details about him are still scarce.
Distant quail
The other title, the multiplayer Far Cry therefore, would be internally called Project Maverick. Insider Gaming says that according to its sources, the setting would take place in the Alaskan wilderness : It’s not the first time we’ve heard of a snowy setting for the series since a 2015 survey conducted by Ubisoft among gamers already indicated such a universe.
Other interesting information: this Project Maverick would be a mining-based shooter with permadeath mechanics, a backpack system, contracts and other similar delicacies. Gears rather trendy and moreover already exploited by Ubisoft, for example with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction.
The images have also been provided to Insider Gaming, who is content to describe them without publishing them: these would contain loot chests or mining areas.
Finally, the site estimates, according to the information provided, that the release window would be considered for fall 2025. He also reportedly reached out to Ubisoft, who responded “do not comment on rumors and speculation”. Needless to say, all of these details shouldn’t be taken at face value and well and truly with tweezers.
Where would you like the plot of the next Far Cry?
