Corning has officially confirmed the integration of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra. This new generation of reinforced glass will notably make it possible to resist falls… on concrete.

Technical data sheet, price, handling, ultra-efficient digital zoom: the Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and S23 Ultra – like the previous generations – were the subject of important leaks several months before their release. The weeks leading up to their official release are usually very busy, with the latest details being revealed here and there.
Looking forward to their scheduled introduction on February 1 at an Unpacked event, the company Corning has confirmed another technical feature expected on the three new Samsung flagships: the presence of Gorilla Glass Victus 2, a brand new generation of reinforced glass presented in November 2022.
Favorable calendar
As is usually the case, the new Galaxy S are often the first to benefit from Corning’s advances. How come ? Because they are the first batch of high-end phones as a new vintage passes. No premium phone is presented in January.

So what will the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 bring? Inevitably, better drop resistance. In November, Corning said his glass had “survived drops of up to one meter onto a concrete-like surface“. A good way to avoid drama and preserve a screen during a drop.

Also, too,”Gorilla Glass Victus 2 continued to withstand drops of up to two meters onto an asphalt-like surface and maintained up to four times the scratch resistance of competitive aluminosilicate“, explained the brand. This protection also strengthens a phone’s level of resistance to scratches.
Only one question remains regarding its integration on the Galaxy S23: will the back benefit as much as the front? Or will it only benefit the screen? Corning’s press release does not elaborate. Rest assured: this was indeed the case with the Galaxy S22. Hope is therefore allowed for the S23.
