Recent adaptations of our favorite video game works have managed to restore the image of series and/or films based on video games. Arcanum, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, The Last of Us, etc. it’s good to be a fan of video games and movies in 2023. However, let’s start from afar! A sci-fi movie soon to be released by Netflix is a testament to how far we still had to go 10 years ago.

A dispensable origin story
Gamers haven’t always been entitled to the crème de la crème of audiovisual productions – to say the least – and the following film was a testing ground for Red Faction fans. . Origins is, as the name suggests, the origin story of Red Faction: Armageddon and follows the events of Red Faction: Guerilla. The story begins exactly 25 years after the second Martian revolution and focuses on the character of Jake Mason, son of the rebel hero of Red Faction: Guerilla “Alec Mason”.
Directed by Michael Nanking for the Syfy channel, Red Faction: Origins first aired on June 4, 2011 and the reception from fans was nothing short of scathing. On the RottenTomatoes website, this feature peaked at 24% (audience score) out of +100 registered votes. It must be recognized that in addition to a trite and anecdotal scenario, the realization never does justice to the franchise and even less to its insurrectionary impulses. Only the casting needs to be saved. Roaming Mars are Brian J. Smith (Matrix Resurrections, Sense8), Danielle Nicolet (Flash), and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2 The Last Judgment, The Faculty). Fortunately, Red Faction: Origins will leave Netflix on February 15, 2023.

THQ and Volition launch a violent blow to the genre at the beginning of the 21st century by offering players the possibility to destroy the environments as they see fit (or almost).
