“There was a drop in production at the power plant last night [nucléaire] by Paluèl », CGT-Energie told Agence France-Presse (AFP). This action, which affected reactors 3 and 4, caused a drop in production of about 940 megawatt hours (MwH) and appeared to have ended in the early hours of the morning, according to messages posted on the Electricité de France (EDF) website.

Energy sector workers rallied on Thursday at nuclear power plants, refineries, ports and docks, for a warm-up ahead of the January 31 national day of interprofessional action against pension reform.

The employees of TotalEnergies, who had given two days’ notice, finally suspended travel on Thursday evening, to preserve themselves and prepare for the day of the 31st, which will affect all sectors, at the invitation of all unions. One of them, the National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (UNSA), has identified more than two hundred meeting places, as many as for the day of the 19th.

The agents of the electricity and gas industries are on strike over renewables and could take new actions on Friday. On Thursday, in addition to cutting electricity production and filtering dams at the entrance to some power plants, they carried out a series of so-called “Robin Hood” actions, according to the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), to “step up the balance of power”. From Lille to Marseille, everywhere in France, they have it “place with free electricity or gas” schools, public housing and hospitals, granted subsidized rates to small businesses and restored electricity to users who had been deprived of it.

When asked about these operations, carried out in parallel with targeted blackouts, the Minister for Energy Transition, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, was very critical. “It is an initiative that, in the end, is equivalent to making the taxpayer pay”said the minister on France 2 on Friday morning, contesting the “generosity” initiative.
