Gone are the days when The Day Before still made players dream. For several months, this post-apo MMO that was between The Last of Us and The Division destroyed its chances of remaining on Steam gamers wishlist. While a few weeks ago we learned of an 8-month postponement for name change reasons, now the Fntastic studio has just surreptitiously released a 10-minute gameplay video in which literally nothing happens on the screen. It is a long sequence in which a young soldier in skintight leggings walks through a city completely emptied of its inhabitants. The art direction is as generic as can be, the gameplay offers nothing interesting, and the zombies have AI completely in the strawberries. We don’t really know what’s going on in the minds of the developers, but this sequence of gameplay will undoubtedly generate a wave of refunds from at least reasonable gamers. We spend more time contemplating sets and customizing our weapons than doing anything interesting in this surreal sequence. For some it is already the scam of the year.
The Day Before (whose name needs to change) is scheduled for release on November 10, 2023, if the game is not canceled by then…
